Just a little pimp for my House of Eliott Tumblr - basically just an excuse to post screencaps of all the pretty - I'll be doing every episode in time!
Thank you! I've worked some magic on them as the 'video' look is just dreadful when you really look at it/try and work with it. All different lighting types, grainy, and heaven forbid there's any movement or it's just blurry!
Ah yeah, of course! It's so annoying isn't it? I know next to nothing about 'types' of film etc., I was just like "Oh ok, it's on video, whatever" but when I came to actually looking at the images and working with them I really saw how awful a medium it was! There's no depth to it, any movement and it just blurs...urgh, I long for HoE HD! LOL!
 Nearly everything I try to cap and icon is even older - HoE was comparatively nice. I nearly die of shock when I work with something modern! I, um, should probably work on my fandoms, but I can't help it. I always fall for the things that are 20+ years old!
(And, for the record, the absolute worst stuff seems to be things made by ITV in the late 70s and early 80s. I don't know what studios they filmed in, but the set colours seemed to be defaulted to dirty shades of green and brown... Bleurh.)
But you have, as I said, indeed got at the pretty - I hadn't realised it could look quite that nice, not with the full-sized images.
It seems to me that TV didn't start giving a damn about this until the mid/late 90's, and now of course it's practically an obsession "IT'S IN HD!!!!", I suppose before the age of videos and things such as photoshop and even the concept of 'fandom', did it matter? People would watch once and that would be that. HoE was the last show shot at BBC TV centre/shot entirely on video, so it's almost like that was the last time the BBC didn't care. That's a damn shame, all that money spent on costumes/sets to look amazing and they shoot it on video!
I'm so pleased you think the caps are pretty, it's a lot of effort to do each one but I feel it's worth it in the end, it's such a beautiful show, it deserves better!
